The eIDAS Conference 2026 is Norway’s most important national arena for dialogue and knowledge sharing on electronic identification (eID) and digital wallets. Norway, along with the rest of Europe, is preparing for the implementation of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation and the European Digital Identity Wallet. These developments will have a significant impact on how digital services are designed, delivered, and governed across sectors.

The conference will take place in Sogndal, Norway. The goal of the conference is to ensure that Norway is well prepared to adopt digital wallet technology by 2030, both from a strategic and a practical perspective.

A meeting place for strategy, policy, and practice

The conference program combines strategic policy discussions with practical insights and concrete examples. Participants will gain a understanding of:

  • the implications of eIDAS 2.0 for public administration and the private sector
  • new service, business, and governance models enabled by digital wallets
  • how organisations can prepare for and start using wallet based solutions in practice

The program features contributions from Norway’s Minister of Digitalisation, the Director General of the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir), and senior experts from Digdir. In addition, leading voices from industry and civil society will share experiences and perspectives on implementation and innovation.

European and Nordic perspectives

The eIDAS Conference 2026 places strong emphasis on European and Nordic cooperation. Participants will hear from experts involved in EU large scale pilot projects and European initiatives related to the European Digital Identity Wallet.

The program also highlights Nordic experiences, drawing on contributions from government bodies responsible for digitalisation in Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland. Their perspectives will enrich discussions on regulatory approaches, governance models, and practical implementation across the Nordic region.

In addition to plenary sessions, the conference includes working sessions where participants from the public and private sectors can exchange experiences and discuss shared challenges. Participants will also learn how organisations can use Digdir´s digital wallet sandbox to explore and test services in a secure and controlled environment.

Sessions and presentations will be held in either English or Norwegian, depending on the speaker.

Who should attend?

The eIDAS Conference 2026 is designed for:
